Solar Site Walk — Privacy Policy

Overview

Solar Site Walk is a field assessment tool for solar installation and sales professionals. Your project records, photos, and notes are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to any server by this app. Everything stays on your device.

Data We Collect

The app stores the following data locally on your device:

Project details (name, address, notes, date)
Contact information (name, phone, email, title)
Electrical data (utility provider, account and meter numbers, voltage, amperage)
Photos from your camera or photo library
Text and voice-dictated notes
GPS coordinates from site visits

All data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Photos remain in private app storage unless you explicitly export them to your Photos library. PDF reports save to the app's Files folder and stay on your device unless you choose to share them.

Permissions Required

Camera — to capture site photos
Photo Library — to import photos and export to your Photos library
Microphone and Speech Recognition — to transcribe voice-dictated notes. See the Voice Note Processing section below for important details about how audio is handled.
Location — to record GPS coordinates and display photo maps

Voice Note Processing

Audio is processed by Apple's speech recognition service. When you use voice dictation, audio is transmitted to Apple's servers for transcription. This transmission is handled under Apple's Privacy Policy and is not retained by Solar Site Walk. On-device recognition may be used automatically by Apple's framework when your device supports it, but cloud processing cannot be guaranteed.

Third-Party Data Sharing

Solar Site Walk does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services, and does not share your project data with any third party.

App Store and Apple Services

Solar Site Walk is distributed through Apple's App Store. Apple may collect certain data as part of App Store operations — such as download records, crash reports, and purchase history for subscriptions — in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy. This data is collected by Apple, not by Solar Site Walk.

If you purchase a Solar Site Walk Pro subscription, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple. Solar Site Walk does not receive or store your payment information.

Data Retention and Deletion

All app data is stored on your device. You can delete all data at any time by removing the app from your device. Exported photos or PDF reports you have saved elsewhere are outside the app's control and must be deleted manually.

Children's Privacy

Solar Site Walk is intended for use by solar industry professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
